You're not broken. You're burned out.
There's a difference.
Reclaiming Yourself is an 8-week somatic psychotherapy group for mothers in recovery from parenting burnout.
Sound healing · Trauma-informed yoga · Breathwork · Community · Evidence-based support
Sundays 9:30–11am · April 26 – June 14, 2026 · St. Catharines, ON
If you're reading this, you're probably exhausted.
Not just tired. Depleted in a way that sleep doesn't fix. You wake up already drained. You move through your days on autopilot. You love your children — but some days you can't access that love, and then you feel guilty about not being able to access it.
You've lost track of who you are outside of what everyone needs from you. You can't remember the last time you did something just for yourself. You're snapping and withdrawing and going through the motions, and somewhere underneath all of it, you're wondering: is this just what motherhood is?
It isn't. This is burnout. And burnout is not a character flaw — it's a predictable response to genuinely impossible demands. Given the relentless mental load, the inadequate support, and the pressure placed on modern mothers, exhaustion isn't weakness. It's the logical outcome.
And it's recoverable.
What is Reclaiming Yourself?
Reclaiming Yourself is a small, intimate therapeutic group — maximum 10 mothers — facilitated by Meghan Maynard, MA, RP, registered psychotherapist and mom.
Over 8 weeks, we meet every Sunday morning for 90 minutes of evidence-based clinical support woven together with deeply restorative practice. This is not a lecture series. It is not a yoga class. It is something more integrated than either — a therapeutic container where the body and the mind are treated as equally important.
Each session includes:
🎵 Sound bath meditation: Crystal bowls open every session and close it in sustained, restorative sound. A dedicated 10–15 minute sound bath meditation gives your body time to absorb what the mind has been carrying.
🌿 Trauma-informed somatic yoga and movement: Gentle, body-led movement designed to help you feel safe in your body again. No yoga experience required. All practices are invitations, not instructions.
🫁 Guided breathwork: Evidence-based breathing practices for nervous system regulation — tools you can take anywhere and use in a moment.
💬 A supported talking circle: Real conversation with mothers who understand. Not advice-giving. Not fixing. Witnessing — which is its own form of medicine.
🧘 Guided meditation: Including self-compassion, loving-kindness— for the weeks when rest feels impossible.
📓 A participant workbook to keep: Your personal burnout recovery workbook accompanies every session and travels home with you.
What we explore together
The eight weeks move with intention — from safety and understanding, through regulation and reclamation, toward integration and love.
Week 1 · Welcome Home: Understanding what burnout actually is — and why it is not your fault. Finding safety in your body and in the room.
Week 2 · The Weight We Carry: Making the invisible mental load visible. Naming what you've been carrying — so it can finally be held, not just managed.
Week 3 · Your Nervous System Is Not Broken: Polyvagal theory in plain language. Why your exhaustion, reactivity, and numbness make complete sense. Learning to complete the stress cycle.
Week 4 · Releasing Perfectionism: Acceptance, self-compassion, and letting go of the belief that you have to do this perfectly. The dear friend practice.
Week 5 · Reclaiming Your Body: Energy management, embodied boundaries, and reconnecting with your body as a source of strength rather than just exhaustion.
Week 6 · Brain and Body Integration: Reclaiming your identity beyond "mother." Who were you before? Who are you becoming?
Week 7 · Rest as Resistance: The radical act of genuinely resting. What joy feels like in a depleted nervous system — and how to reclaim it.
Week 8 · Opening to Love: Integration, completion, and closing the circle with intention. A ceremony for what you are carrying forward — and what you are leaving behind.
This group was built on real clinical work
The Reclaiming Yourself curriculum integrates two evidence-based frameworks:
Meghan Maynard's Parent Burnout Recovery model — developed through years of clinical work with mothers experiencing burnout, drawing on neuroscience, polyvagal theory, acceptance and commitment therapy, and self-compassion research.
Arielle Schwartz's Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma Recovery — a somatic approach that uses breath, movement, and mindfulness to support nervous system healing from the inside out.
Every session is facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). This is clinical group psychotherapy — not a wellness workshop.
Your facilitator
Meghan Maynard, MA, RP
Meghan specializes in parenting, intergenerational trauma, and neurodivergence. She created the Parent Burnout Recovery framework — and this group — because she believes that mothers deserve recovery that addresses actual causes, not just symptoms. She is also a mother, which means she brings both clinical expertise and personal understanding to this work.
"You don't have to do this perfectly. You don't have to do all of it. You just have to show up — and let the rest happen."

Common questions
Do I need yoga or meditation experience? No. Everything is offered as an invitation. Your body is always the authority. You can modify, decline, or step back from any practice at any time.
Is this covered by insurance? Many extended health plans cover Registered Psychotherapy. Check your plan for "psychotherapy" coverage — not just "psychology." Receipts will be provided after each session.
What if I can't make every session? Life happens. Do your best. If you need to miss a session, let Meghan know and you'll receive any relevant materials. The group is designed to hold you whether or not every week is possible.
Is this individual therapy? No. This is group psychotherapy — a therapeutic group container facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist. It is not individual therapy, and your facilitator will not provide individual sessions within the group context. If individual support is something you need, Meghan can provide referrals.
I'm not sure I'm burned out enough to be here. Is that okay? Yes. You don't need to be at rock bottom to deserve support. If something in you resonated when you read this page — trust that.
I have questions before I register. Please reach out. A short conversation is always welcome.
