Are you tired of fighting with your child or teen? Tired of repeating yourself, negotiating, bargaining, feeling ignored — and watching the calm, connected relationship you want with your kid feel further out of reach?
I'm Jess, and I help families find their way back to each other.
For over a decade I worked with children and youth in nearly every capacity — full-time nanny, teaching assistant, university student mentor, and eldest sibling in my own family.
Those years shaped how I see kids: as whole people whose behaviour always makes sense once you understand what's underneath it. That perspective is what brought me to psychotherapy.
My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed. I work primarily through Internal Family Systems (IFS) — a parts-based approach that helps both children and parents meet the different sides of themselves with curiosity instead of judgment. Depending on what fits, I also draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy, Child-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Play Therapy, ACT, DBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
I focus on trauma, ADHD, anxiety, anger, and the challenging behaviours and dynamics that can leave families feeling stuck — including long-standing cycles that feel impossible to change. Nothing brings me more joy than witnessing a parent and child experience co-regulation and real understanding, often after years of conflict.
While families are at the heart of my work, I also see individuals of all ages and couples (where I integrate EFT, Gottman, and parts work). Family Kinnections is a short drive from Niagara College, and I'd be glad to support post-secondary students through whatever they're navigating.
If something here resonated, I'd love to hear from you. Book a free 15-minute consultation.
