Teen Dungeons & Dragons Group (In-Person)

A therapist-led tabletop campaign where teens grow social and emotional skills through collaborative play — in person at our Welland office.

New to Dungeons & Dragons? Here's what it is

Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is the world's best-known tabletop role-playing game — first created in 1974 and played by millions ever since. There's no screen and no winning or losing. Players sit around a table and build a story together: each person creates a character, a “Dungeon Master” sets the scene, and the group decides what happens next, with dice rolls adding suspense and surprise.

Think of it as collaborative, imaginative storytelling — part improv, part strategy, part hanging out with friends. It's had a huge cultural resurgence over the last decade, with a welcoming community that's a natural fit for teens who enjoy creativity, problem-solving, and genuine connection.

What this group is

A facilitated Dungeons & Dragons group built for teens. A therapist guides the campaign, so beneath the dice and storytelling, every session quietly supports social and emotional growth — in a format teens actually want to show up for.

Why it works

Playing D&D asks teens to practise the very skills that matter most off the page:

  • Communication, collaboration, and working as a team
  • Perspective-taking and reading social cues
  • Flexible thinking and problem-solving under pressure
  • Noticing and regulating emotions as the story shifts
  • Confidence, belonging, and genuine peer connection

What to expect

Small groups, therapist-facilitated, with no experience needed — characters, dice, and everything else are provided. This group meets in person at our Welland office.

Teen Art-Based Psychotherapy Group

An art-based psychotherapy group for self-regulation, emotional awareness, and getting to know yourself.

What this group is

An art-based psychotherapy group where the art stays open-ended and entirely client-led — the point is the process, not the finished piece, and no art experience or talent is required. Making things becomes a low-pressure way to work on yourself.

What we explore

With gentle scaffolding, members begin to notice and reflect on:

  • Interoceptive states — what's happening in the body — and emotional awareness
  • What calms, and what builds capacity
  • Identity, needs awareness, and self-advocacy

It's all in service of self-regulation — whether what's hard right now is low mood, anxiety, self-harm urges, anger, or sensory overwhelm.

What to expect

An eight-week program on Sunday afternoons, kept small and steady, with all materials provided. Come as you are — there’s no wrong way to create.
