Family Therapy

Family therapy that helps everyone feel a little safer with each other — neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed, in person in Welland or online across Ontario. We work with the whole family, not just the child carrying the worry.

When the whole family is struggling

When a child is having a hard time, it’s rarely just the child — the whole family feels it. Family therapy makes room for everyone: the worry, the conflict, and the patterns that have left people stuck or walking on eggshells. We help families understand the need underneath the behaviour and find their way back to feeling a little more like a team.

How family therapy works

Sessions bring the people who matter into the room — in person or on screen — to work on communication, repair after conflict, and the dynamics that shape a young person’s world. We treat the whole family system, not just one child, as part of the picture, because lasting change happens in relationships. Our approach is collaborative, non-blaming, and paced so it feels safe for everyone, including the youngest voices.

Who it helps

Family therapy can help with parent–teen conflict, sibling tension, big transitions, the strain of supporting a neurodivergent or struggling child, and families who simply want to feel close again. We draw on trauma-informed, nervous-system-aware, and demand-sensitive approaches throughout, always starting from your family’s strengths.

How family therapy can help:

  • Communicate more openly and feel heard
  • Reduce conflict and repair after ruptures
  • Understand the need underneath a child's behaviour
  • Strengthen parent–child and sibling relationships
  • Navigate big transitions and stress together
  • Support a neurodivergent family member in affirming ways
